For the wall treatment one should use frescoes. This will bring out the Italian culture a lot and it will be a unique touch to the room. Had paintings on the walls or ceilings should be done on the frescoes. This is typical in Italian houses. The paintings should be mostly related to some kind of story or important event that tells a story. But make sure it’s something that people can feel comfortable with. For the ceiling make sure that it’s elegant and simple. Not too much going on. If you do want to paint something on the ceilings then go with something soft. Maybe some clouds or something soft like that.
Some objects that could be use for the room could be colorful plates, Marino glass from Venice, painted tiles, something that falls naturally with the Tuscan style. Get some iron objects like candle holders, sconces. Also get earthy materials like stone, fabric, plaster and create something to the Italian style. Now for floors get glazed ceramic or marble inlay in intricate patterns. Also make it colorful and happy but make it also look natural, don’t go crazy with colors now! Wooden floor may work as well. Add some rugs that contrast with the colors on the floor. For fabrics get very earthy and natural looks and feels to them. Furniture get classic and folk pieces. Make it look rich visual texture.

Tips for a Modern Look!

Colors: Walls should be tones of black, white, brown, gray, beige, and chrome. Bright colors are used as accent and accessories. Primary colors can add the splash of red, yellow or blue that makes that modern look have live within the room inself.

Walls: Walls are simple, without moldings or embellishment; painted white or neutral tones. Using glass as walls is an important touch in Modern Style. Contemporary art, such as Abstract Expressionism and Pop art add life and organic interest to the clean angularity of modern design

Floors: Natural elements: Wood, stone, brick, and cork compliment the open, airiness of modern interiors. Abstract patterned rugs, such as kilim rugs, help soften the linearity and add character to the modern interior.

Lighting: Track lighting, in combination with recessed ceiling cans or halogen ceiling spots, are utilized to direct light onto specific areas of the interior. For example, spotlighting a painting or centering an open plan room by emphasizing an object with a focused light beam. Smaller lamps will add interest. Items like globe lamps, or tubular lamps, for example. Going simple is the key for a modern look.

Windows: Plain white curtains or Venetian blinds allow light to enter the interior without detracting from the open, uncluttered spaces. Or for a daringly modern look, no window coverings at all!

Modern

A Modern Style is very futuristic and 20th century. There are a lot of lines going on in these types of rooms. They don’t have straight lines they are mostly curvy and weird looking. Modern Style is inspired by Cubism, The Abstract, mostly in Paintings, and Pop Art.

Window frames should be simple. Huge picture windows, even walls of glass, are emblematic of this style. The floor plan should be as open as possible, and the space divided with modular furniture, low cabinets or bookcases or perhaps a partial wall made of glass bricks.

More inside a Japanese style house

Japanese revolves around nature and they try to make their house as naturally as possible. Mostly everything is wooden and surrounded with plants and rocks. Don’t forget the water running around the house to get that waterfall seen. For the bathrooms and kitchen you should get old style technology. For example, you should get an old style stove and dishwasher. For the bathroom an old style sink and toilet, also a shower or bath. All this should be more on the old style side instead of modern. Japanese style is again very earthy and old fashioned.

For the dining room and living room you should get pillows to sit on the floor with. This creates a Zen feeling and it is also part of the Japanese culture. For the doors, sliding doors are the best. Also make sure not to forget art! Try to keep everything wooden and artistic.

Ever been to Japan?

If you’re a big fan of Japan and their styles I’ll give you some insights in how to get your house to have that feeling as if you where in Japan every day. It is a relaxing style and it will never let you down on those days that you want to relax the most. Let’s start off with the garden. Their gardens are very peaceful and full of live. To get the perfect Japanese garden you’ll need some water fountain that will help you relax or maybe a pond. Water relaxes you and it’s one of the main things you should have in your garden. It gives it that serene feeling you want when you get home from work.

Japanese style uses a lot of traditional ceramic made pots and things that are natural. For example wood, stone, rice straw. Also they use Buddhism and Zen related stuff. This is another way of getting that peaceful feeling you’re looking for to have inside your home. Rocks and gravel gardens make it more natural and earth related. Get plants around the house and also those sense smells. A wooden chair is something that can be made from earth so that is a good way to get your seating. Japanese style is very earth related and it also uses some eco friendly materials inside the house.
Something else you should make sure you have around the house is Japanese art work. This is something that is very important to them and it has meaning to them. Some things that you can get are wooden posts and beams, ceramic or copper roof shingles, bamboo, tatami, and delicate rice-paper shoji screens. This is their history and they are glad to have it around the house.

Classical tips...

• Focus on symmetry. Make each side of the room's focal point balance visually.
• Consider vertical, tone-on-tone stripes on the walls or the draperies.
• Create geometric patterns within stone or marble tile flooring.
• Get a large center piece, for example a natural rug surrounded by a classically inspired pattern - like a Greek key design.
• When you want to use whites you should get bright white or really light tan or caramel type of color. You should use light brown or creams near a white. But not light white make it pop out.

Classical

Classical designs are very old fashion. They are simple and very casual. Using the right colors to make a classical look it can take the cue from the empire periods of history where color choices were often inspired by nature. Consider various yellows, blues, greens, browns as well as softer, muted hues like terracottas, grays and pinks. Adding some ebony (black) accenting within a well-planned design scheme can enhance the classical feel.
You should get some common classical images for the room which include; Roman and Greek inspired columns, busts and urns. Obelisks and other Egyptian inspired design elements might also be used. A classical image can also be showed in a room through decorative accessories or as a carefully stenciled pattern on the walls, for example. There are also wallpaper borders available with strong classical design elements.

Fabrics in classical rooms tend to be delicate, elegant but also reserved. Some of the fabrics you could use for a room like this could be cotton, some less reserved options like silk or taffeta. Now for flooring you should go for a natural look, maybe a wood, stone or marble would be the best choice for a classical style.
